Description and History of Site:-
Plain, undistinguished building originally a small, two storey tannery, to which a cooling room was added when it was converted to a brewery in 1883. What remained of the building has fairly recently been demolished and agricultural buildings erected.
In 1874 the building was occupied as a tannery, but in 1883 Mark Barker converted it for use as a brewery. In 1886 and 1893 the owner is given as John Crossley and Company who also ran a business in Broad Street Halifax retailing wine spirits and cigars. By 1905 brewing appears to have ended at the site which reverted to agricultural use.
