Description and History of Site:-
Flax spinning mill, built for John Marshall, designed in Egyptian style by architect Ignatius Bonomi, engineer James Combe, 2 storey office block, with adjacent single storey buildings includes top lit spinning and weaving shed of approximately 2 acres. Later in the 20th Century used as a mail-order dispatch warehouse by Kays until c2005. Currently (2018) plans for reuse are being considered.
Built as flax spinning and weaving mill 1st phase 1838-40, 2nd phase 1840-43. Later in the 20th Century used as a mail-order clothing dispatch warehouse by Kays until c2005. Then various temporary uses until 2009.
