Description and History of Site:-
Sandstone rubble with ashlar dressings, Welsh slate roof. Single storey, 8 bays. Quoined segmental-arched openings. Coal depot to the north on a through line.
Built in 1846 by architect G T Andrews for George Hudson's Great North of England Railway. The station closed in March 1969. Currently (2017) the building houses a cinema, restaurant, shops, gallery, meeting room and a fitness centre.
