Description and History of Site:-
Now a car park.
The site of Castle Mill, Richmond's ancient corn watermill, with origins dating from 1136. The corn mill closed around 1830. A paper mill was established on the site in 1865 by James Cooke, but this was destroyed in a flood of 1893. In 2004, evidence of the paper mill and archaeological remains were discovered and partially excavated.
