Description and History of Site:-
The plateway that connected Manor Quarry with Claughton Manor Brickworks, which was removed when the quarry closed down and its route allowed to return to nature.
It is presumed that the quarry opened to serve Claughton Manor Brick Co. Ltd.'s new Claughton Manor Brickworks when that opened in 1898. When Claughton Moor Quarry opened in around 1924, Manor Quarry was no longer needed for Claughton Manor Brickworks so it seems that it would then have closed. It was connected to the brickworks by a plateway.
