Description and History of Site:-
An interesting building on a complex ground plan, with a slate hip-roofed chamber to house a cathead crane. The sign 'A McMullen & Co Ltd Seed Merchants' is striking.
Now an event space and museum storage.
A McMullen founded the seed merchants after his retirement from the family's brewery. The warehouse had good access to the River Lea Navigation.
1944 Repaired after war damage
1972 The warehouse was acquired by Hertford Town Council for museum storage
1989-90 Refurbished to provide storage and conservation facilities for Hertford Museum and offices for the Hertfordshire Archaeological Trust. Subsequently, the upper floor was converted for event space.
