Description and History of Site:-
Modern branch public library building opened 1980 on site of former building for the same purpose opened in new buildings with effect from 29 March 1897.
From 19 November 1890 the library had operated in temporary premises in Station Road, South Norwood. Adjoining Polytechnic buildings (qv) opened in 1896.
