Lambeth North Tube Station

Description and History of Site:-
Originally called Kennington Rd. 1906, for Baker St & Waterloo Railway. Leslie Green's standard design with steel frame and glazed brick allowing additional development above (as at Elephant & Castle).

Note plaque in Entrance Hall, Westminster Bridge Road for site of Maudslay Son & Field's works which was close by:

'ON THIS SITE BETWEEN 1810 AND 1900 STOOD THE WORKS OF MAUDSLAY, SONS AND FIELD FAMOUS FOR MARINE AND GENERAL ENGINEERING AND AS THE TRAINING PLACE OF MANY ENGINEERS OF RENOWN.
THE JUNIOR INSTITUTION OF ENGINEERS (Incorporated) FOUNDED IN THE MAUDSLAY WORKS, ERECTED THIS TABLET IN ITS JUBILEE YEAR, 1934.'
