Description and History of Site:-
This was the pivot cone for the railway turntable that was sited a few metres further south on the west side of Station Road.

It was unearthed during works to redevelop the area.

The turntable is recorded as being 70 feet long.

There is an information board close by explaining the purpose of turntables.
