Morrell's Factory (site of)

Caption :- Morrell's Canning Factory, was originally built by Messrs. A W Foster and Company Ltd in 1931 who operated it until March 1932 when it was purchased by John Morrell & Co. Ltd. The business however continued to operate under the Foster name until 31 st December 1946, when it merged to John Morrell & Co. Ltd. The railway sidings closed in 1st February 1960.

In 1977 the factory was taken over by the A Claude Morrell Employee's Trust and again in 1986 when it was purchased by Hillsdown Holdings (Premier Foods) who in 1990 integrated the site with Sterling Wygate. Taken over by BP Nutrition (UK) Ltd in 1992 the site closed on 30th April 1994
