Description and History of Site:-
In 1973, prior to demolition, Hatcher described the building as: Three storey brick with slate roof. Bearded head carved on keystone of corner entrance. At first floor, tall windows with flat arched lintels of white, grey and black brick voussoirs. The building must have been built between 1847 and 1888 on cartographic evidence. Described as a 'Works' in 1889 and as a 'brass foundry' on the OS 25" map of 1932. Occupied in 1935 as the premises of Simms Motor Units Ltd, established in 1913, manufacturers of vehicular electrical apparatus such as dynamos and magnetos. In the process of demolition in 1973.
