Threaplands Mill

Description and History of Site:-
Small cotton spinning mill built about 1800. Insurance in 1800 - Threaplands Cotton Mill £100, Mill Work £50, Machinery £300 and Stock £50. In 1818 the four storey mill was for sale and no further industrial uses have been found. Insured by Benjamin Shiers, a grazier and cotton spinner in 1800. Shiers was still running the mill in 1812, but the mill was then leased to a man called Whitaker. The mill was for sale in 1818.
