Langcliffe Mills Sports Club

Description and History of Site:-
The site consists of a large early-twentieth-century sports pavillion standing above and looking down on a large area that was formerly a recreation/sports ground for workers and their families at Langcliffe High and Shed Mills. It had a full-size crown-green bowling green, a putting green and three hard tennis courts. The pavillion had an assembly room, cloak rooms, a kitchen and offices. After the mills closed, in 1955, the pavillion was converted into a dwelling. It was built by Fine Cotton Spinners Association, which then owned the two Langcliffe cotton mills, as a facility for employees, retirees and their families and was opened on 10 June 1927.
