Norris Chalmers Ltd

Description and History of Site:-
Now part of housing estate accessed by Bilsdale Court. Little is known about the early days of the site, which included several small workshops, a scrap yard and other buildings used by North Yorkshire Council Highways. Sunter Brothers Heavy Haulage developed a large garage workshop on the site and gradually re-used/replaced the pre-existing buildings. Very little is known about Norris Chalmers Toy Manufacturers. The toys, eg rocking horses, wheel barrows, tractors, trains, sledges and dolls prams, were made mainly of wood.
