The bridge steel structure was designed by Arrol's in collaboration with Mr. H. R. Hepworth, County Surveyor of the West Riding, whilst the approach viaducts were designed by Mr. Hepworth in association with Messrs. L. G. Mouchel and Partners Ltd.
