Low Hail Bridge Hurworth

Description and History of Site:-
In 1879 a wrought iron lattice girder bridge with seven spans of 16.3m was built at Hurworth to give access to Low Hail. Designed by Robert Robinson of Darlington, the £2000 cost was shared between Lord Rokeby and the rate payers of Hurworth as the bridge also provided support for sewer pipes to cross the river to the treatment works built on the Yorkshire side.
