Description and History of Site:-
Eskdale Ironstone Mines. A number of mines in the area on the south bank of the Esk to the east of Grosmont . Birtley Iron Co 1848-1870 then Bagnall & Co 1872-1878. Reopened 1906-1915 by Grosmont Iron Co. Drifts inclines and remains of the explosive store in the woods near the railway. On private land.
