Castle Mills Lock

Description and History of Site:-
At the junction of the River Ouse and the Foss Navigation. Interesting in that it appears to have had an intermediate set of gates, now missing, between the upper and lower gates. The hinge bearings and sluice controls for these gates are still present. Originally built in the 1790's, reconstructed in 1887.
