Boulby Alum Works

Description and History of Site:-
Boulby Alum Works. Very large quarries shale clamps and steeping tanks survive along with the culvert which led the liquor to Boulby Alum House. Some parts of the site have suffered loss through cliff erosion which is continuing. Some excavations took place during the 1970s. (Scheduled Ancient Monument and SSSI).
