Ripon Railway Station

Description and History of Site:-
Single storey red brick and slate in Mock Tudor style with stone dressings very reminiscent of Victorian School Architecture. Main station facade has eight bays; 4, 5 and 6 forming projecting portico five being bigger and more projecting. Three exaggerated Tudor arches but not flat enough and hint of ogee not properly centred. Chamfer to jambs turns abruptly square to form square. Opened June 1848, by Leeds & Thirsk Railway. Closed to passengers March 1967, for goods 1969.
