Amotherby Mill

Description and History of Site:-
Polychrome buildings white brick banded with red at regular intervals. Pay Office adjacent. Now (2017), more recent industrial buildings to the rear, A corn Roller Mill is shown on the 1909 and 1950 OS maps, although it isn't clear which, if any, of those original buildings are still standing. Kelly's directory of 1913 lists one Robert Rotherford Parke, corn merchant and miller (steam) in Amotherby, the likely operator of the mill. BATA was established in Brandsby (1894) as an agricultural supply co-operative, which it still remains. In 1973 was in use producing animal feeds for Brandsby Agricultural Trading Association Ltd (BATA). The BATA co-operative still owns and operates the site (2017).
