Milby Lock

Description and History of Site:-
Lock at the eastern end of the Milby Cut where the cut rejoins the River Ure. John Smeaton, engineer. The cut was constructed to permit the movement of boats around the weir of Boroughbridge Mill between Milby and Ripon. Also provided was a wharf for the loading and unloading of boats at Milby, long disused.
