Leyburn Railway Station

Description and History of Site:-
Authorised by the Bedale to Leyburn Railway Act 4th August 1853. The station opened to Goods on 24th November 1855 and passengers on 18th May 1856. The line from Northallerton to Leyburn was absorbed into the North Eastern Railway on 1st January 1858. Passenger services were withdrawn on the 26th April 1954. Freight services continued intermittently, varying with demand at least into the 1990s. The station was reopened in May 2003 as part of the preserved Wensleydale Railway.
The Coal Depot sheds at SE 11690 90283 are listed grade II (1130855).
