Bardney Road Bridge

Description and History of Site:-
Single carriage-way road bridge over the River Witham. The bridge which dates from the 1890s is of either wrought iron or early mild-steel riveted girder construction with modern additions. The girders have a slightly arched top member. Replaced an earlier ferry. The bridge is not shown on the OS map of 1887 but is shown on the 1905 edition.

The bridge has been strengthened at some point by the insertion of reinforced concrete open A-frames and infilling to the girder at either end of the bridge to shorten the span and take some (or all) off the original brick abutments.
