Description and History of Site:-
Now known as 'Cottam House' this building was built in the 1890s for W B Fordham, emery and glass paper manufacturers. It became the headquarters of Meakers, menswear retailers, from the mid 1930s until 1977.
It has an imposing twin pedimented façade with a large central arch and forms the north-west corner of the Regent Quarter, a redevelopment of 260,000 sq ft of buildings east of York Way, opposite King's Cross Station.
Regent Quarter is bounded by York Way, Railway Street, Balfe Street, Caledonian Road and Pentonville Road.
