Southwark Bridge

Description and History of Site:-

The present Thames bridge of 1912-1921 replaced the original John Rennie bridge of 1814-1819 which had three spans. The current bridge was designed by Basil Mott of the engineers, Mott & Hay. Sir Ernest George designed the pierced turrets. It has 5 steel arches of 123', 131', 140', 131' and 123' on granite piers.
