West Cowick Brewery

Description and History of Site:-
In large red brick. Just the shell now no brewing equipment. Brewing last done here in 1957. The brewing tower is surrounded by other buildings of similar height so does not dominate complex as much as usual. Whole lot forms sort of cube with varied roof like rather like a Gothic fairy-tale castle. (Hatcher, 1974). Known as the 'Crown Brewery', built for Hartleys Brewery Company c1888.
