Beckstones Wath Footbridge

Description and History of Site:-
A new footbridge was built in 2000 the object was to create a link between public footpaths on opposite banks of the River Tees. It consists of three spans of 23m with stepped access at each end. The twin 686 x 254 (125 kg/m) UBs are connected by full strength splices to form a single continuous length over the supports. The beams are set 1m apart and carry the hardwood timber deck and handrails. Due to delays caused by the 2001 foot and mouth restrictions the footbridge was not opened until 6 May 2002.
