Opened in 1837 at a cost of £7,110, architect and builder John Brown of Norwich. Housed 400 inmates.
Taken over in 1929 by West Suffolk C.C. and evolved into a local hospital by 1946.
2018 - closed as a hospital for redevelopment as residential accommodation.
