A three-storey brick-built lace factory constructed in 1857 for the Smith Bros, lace manufacturers (date stone on south
Lace factory, now shop warehouse. 1857 with later additions. Red brick with C20 concrete tile roof and moulded brick band. Three storeys and five bays. Ground floor has six segment headed windows with rounded jambs and heads, also iron window with small opening casements, to east and west elevations. Those to east elevation are partly obscured by later lean-tos. Above, six similar windows and above again a further six similar windows. To north of east elevation is an advanced staircase bay with small segment headed windows. The original chimney is reduced to a plinth at eaves level on the south west corner.South gable wall has stone plaque to top of gable inscribed '1857'. Interior has plain iron columns to centre of each floor.
The factory is listed because it is the oldest surviving lace factory in Long Eaton. It now forms part of a 1989 retail development on the High Street.
High Street Mill was built in 1857 as a lace factory for the brothers Samuel and Thomas Smith. By 1899 it was no longer marked as a lace factory, and subsequently served as a warehouse and storage for retail premises on the High Street.
