Pump House, Phoebe Lane

Caption :- Canal Pump House, Phoebe Lane, Siddal, built in 1828 to lift water 109 feet from a sump fed at Salterhebble and delivered by gravity to the head of the Halifax branch of the Calder and Hebble Navigation at Bailey Hall. A beam engine, supplied by the Low Moor Company operated until the canal's abandonment in 1942. This view from below, April 1984.
