Description and History of Site:-
Established by Isaac Abbott in 1869. Became Abbott and Smith in 1889, incorporated into Wood, Wordsworth, organ builders, also of Leeds in 1975. The company were prolific and well regarded organ builders and supplied, or were subsequently involved with, instruments worldwide. The nearest extant organ to the works is at 'All Souls' Blackman Lane which they originally built in 1881. They also became responsible for the rebuilding and maintenance of the Leeds Town Hall organ in 1905, originally built by Gray and Davison of London.
