Quarry Dene Aqueduct

Description and History of Site:-
The remains of the arch can still be seen (2018) on the west side, although now very nearly obscured by the accumulation of soil, there is no clear evidence to the east. The upper surface now concrete. Originally, an open conduit from Eccup reservoir to Weetwood reservoir. It carried water across this area severely disturbed by earlier quarrying. A short arched stone aqueduct was required to maintain the line and gradient of the conduit. The conduit was subsequently replaced by underground mains pipes which largely followed the original course
