Oak Mills

Description and History of Site:-
Giles & Goodall wrote: "Steam-powered integrated woollen mill built in 1906 and expanded in 1929. Original complex, possibly by T A Buttery of Morley and Leeds, included office and warehouse range, timber-floored mill of three storeys and seventeen bays used for weaving on ground floor and carding and spinning on the upper floors, and detached range with engine and boiler houses and rooms for milling, willeying and rag grinding. Siting of buildings allowed room for expansion of mill (never realised) and construction of weaving shed, built in 1929. One of a sizeable group of late 19th and early 20th-century mills in Morley, Oak Mills is typical in both architectural style (red brick) and in its inclusion of rag-grinding capacity."

Not listed, but currently (2019) in good condition with chimney and stair tower surmounted by water tank.
