Otley Bridge

Description and History of Site:-
This masonry bridge crosses the River Wharfe and carries an unclassified road from Otley to Newhall and Fewston. Built in two portions, the older on the downstream side having five ribs and the remainder being of plain tooled masonry, it has seven spans varying in length from 20 ft. to 31 ft., with a 16 ft. carriageway and 3 ft. 6 in. footpaths The only bridge of medieval origin crossing the River Wharfe. The more recent two spans thought to have been rebuilt after a flood of 1673. May have originally been built as early as 1228.
