Calverley Bridge

Description and History of Site:-
Calverley bridge across the River Aire was built in 1929 as part of the new link road between Calverley and Horsforth. The reinforced concrete bridge has a total length of 260 ft. (79.25m), it comprises three spans, 50 ft. (15.24m), 133 ft. (40.54m) and 45 ft. (13.72m) long, and has a 30 ft. (9.14m) carriageway with two 12 ft. (3.66m)footpaths. The bridge was designed and constructed by Messrs. Peter Lind and Co. Ltd. in collaboration with Mr. H. R. Hepworth, the West Riding County Surveyor.
Cost £24,000 excluding road and approach works.
