Description and History of Site:-
By 1852 Ibbotson Bros of the Globe Works (qv) also occupied Globe Steel Works (qv) in Cross Smithfield. Circa 1861 they moved to Russell Street and in 1882 bought the adjoining Sheffield Workhouse in Alma Street dating from 1829. The rendered block on Alma Street is all that remained in 1994 of the workhouse. The Works one of two owned by Richardsons makers of Laser kitchen knives in 1994. Extant in 2014 "Globe Steel Works" in relief on gable end. Occupied by AW Tools Europe Ltd in 2015.
