Description and History of Site:-
A small lake of 5,000 cubic metres remains. Built for the Harrogate Corporation Water Works in 1890, discontinued and drained almost completely (2015) to take it out of the provisions of the Reservoirs Act of 1975. Upper Beaver Dyke reservoir is now (2018) known as John O'Gaunts reservoir in reference to the site of 'John of Gaunt's Castle' just to the south.
