Yore Bridge, Bainbridge

Description and History of Site:-

The present bridge over the River Ure was designed and built by John Carr of York in 1793. It is constructed of rubble and ashlar (finely dressed) stone. It has three segmental arches and triangular cutwaters on the upstream side only. Inside the upstream parapet is a stone inscribed with a benchmark and “N Y R” for the North Riding of Yorkshire.
