Bell Goldsbrough and Co.

Description and History of Site:-

The building was set back a footpath's width from the Northallerton Town end on the West side of Brompton Road and the site is now part of a Super MarketA three-storey rendered brick built building with living accommodation at one end with factory attached. Large wooden ventilated slatted windows along top floor smaller windows on second floor,pan-tiled roof.

During 1901 the business was taken over from W Bell & E Goldsbrough by joint ownership of W H Martin & Thomas Swain of Sheepcote farm, Darlington road, Northallerton,in September 1926 the business was taken over solely by Thomas Swain. The factory ceased trading in the early 1940's and the business was transferred to a new building on the opposite side of the road
