Scott's Mill

Description and History of Site:-
An extensive spread of demolition rubble and lead slags indicate the site of the former smelting mill on the north-west side of the stream. Built, probably sometime around 1765, by John Scott who had previously been involved in smelting at Beldi Hill and Spout Gill. The mill was sold in 1854, at which time it had an ore-hearth, slag-hearth, and roasting furnace. Continued smelting until 1868.
