Description and History of Site:-
Aiskew Signal Box. Possibly designed by G.T. Andrews. From May 1856 passenger services ran between Northallerton and Leyburn. In 1954 passenger services ceased although mineral traffic continued. The signal box survived to supervise the crossing and the last remaining passing loop on the otherwise single track railway. Since 2004 the Wensledale Railway who took over the track has run trains the 35km to Redmire.
