Blue Bridge

Description and History of Site:-
Twin leaf bascule footbridge over the River Foss at its junction with the River Ouse. The bridge here, originally in timber, was built in 1738, to carry York's riverside walkway across the mouth of the Foss. This was replaced in 1895 by the present 'Blue' bridge.
