Swinton (High Burn) Bridge

Description and History of Site:-
Over River Burn. One arch, two niches in supports (Hatcher, 1973).

Bridge. C18, widened by John Carr in 1796 (Pevsner). Ashlar with coursed
squared stone parapet. Single segmental arch with voussoirs and hood-mould.
Pilaster buttresses with arched niche to each. Band. Coped parapet. Half
the bridge is in the parish of Swinton with Warthermarske. According to Pevsner, was widened in 1796.
