Sherburn-in-Elmet Maltings

Description and History of Site:-
Large brick building with high slate roof alongside the York-London main railway line. Three storeys. Round headed windows to 1st and 2nd floors flat headed on ground floor. Windows in bays formed by shallow pilasters. Transept at south end with gable and elevated ridge to roof . Wooden lucams on both sides. Cowls on roof. Semi-circular relievig arches at west end. View blocked by hedge along front and by garage at the side (Hatcher, 1974).
