The old corn mill

Description and History of Site:-
Complex of buildings . There were 2 mills on the site, a corn mill and one which was used for a variety of purposes, at the end it was a saw mill. The saw mill closed in 1960 and was later demolished. The corn mill is now a residential house. The weir across the river was enhanced a number of times and the current structure is a large weir obliquely across river and now derelict. Water uses only half channel and now breaks through small section of weir, hence water level is lowered. Rest of weir is above water level and overgrown with weeds. Corn Mill
The corn mill site was one of the mill sites mentioned in the Royal Forest of Knaresborough tenancy agreements where the Lord's tenants had to supply wood to the mill to keep the mill and the dam repaired. It will have been much changed since the site was first used.
Other mill
In the c15 it was a fulling mill and later because a saw mill. Some sources think it was a saw mill for 100s of years. It last made shuttles.
