Description and History of Site:-
Bardney Sugar beet Factory was one of the first in the County and commenced operation on 10th October 1927. In the early years, beets were primarily delivered by rail, as well as by barges on the River Witham.
The closure of the sugar beet processing facilities was announced on 23rd January 2001 and the final shift in the processing facilities was on 9th February 2001. Most of the machinery was dismantled and shipped to Russia once beet processing ended. Now in alternative food process use. (adapted from the HER)
