Andrew Mill

Sorry, we have no imagery here.

Description and History of Site:-
In 1832 the mill was four storeys high and was driven by a 12ft 8" diameter water wheel and an 8 hp steam engine. In 1813 Andrew Mill was used for cotton spinning and fulling woollen cloth. Tenants included Buckley, Roberts & Kenworthy and others. About 1822 John Neild took over the cotton section where he had 8 mules with 272 spindles each.

On the 1850 6" OS map, 'Andrew Mill' is shown on the NE side of the road, by 1906 it appears to have developed and expanded on a larger site to the SW.
