Salterhebble Aqueduct - Halifax

Abbreviated Caption
Calder and Hebble Navigation. Wooden trough aqueduct, originally constructed in 1815/6 to connect the Salterhebble locks via Long Lee Cut down to the present Woodside Lock where the Elland Upper cut formerly re-entered the River Calder above Long Lee weir. High maintenance costs of the wooden structure dictated that the 1986 replacement would employ contemporary concrete technology. Photo. April 1

Date April 1986
