New Street Mills

Description and History of Site:-

Warehouse of three storeys and 18 bays.Built by the Pudsey Worsted Mill Co. in 1871, and then known as Pudsey Worsted Mill (WYK01008). When built, the site comprised a large warehouse (extant in 2017), weaving shed, engine house and boiler house. Later development (by 1889) saw a second weaving shed and warehouse built to the west of the original complex which was supplied with power from the original mill. The second Mill was demolished between 2009 and 2011, the original Mill after 2011, with the exception of the warehouse on the eastern edge of the site which still stands (2017). All the rest of the site has been redeveloped to residential housing.
